To our politicians if you have a heart
From the prisons of your mind release the wisdom of the human kind and free the vale of Ferney of grey pavement and misery. In a rapture of finesse, sing of Mauritius? success; honour the enchanted Dodo?s grave as you would your own comrade. For the birds that sing happy tunes and bring the earth?s melodies to our ears, of times long ago do they tell, therefore no trees should you fell. And for us a just society, what is the price of mercy?Ancestral voices murmur softly in the winnowing wind and warn us of the Albatross and of sin. From the gaze of your eyes, caress Ferney?s sunny paradise. From the heights of Pieter Both, plead the Crécerelle and I both.So let this be now all ye song to sing in the deep heart?s core waiting our country? history to be writ and all souls to benefit. And please, please for motherland?s sake, make not your term be writ in water or else in a corner will your soul wither.
