● MCIT interested in Anshi’s relatives

Four years after the tragedy in Bassin-Blanc, the Major Crime Investigation Team (MCIT) is examining all trails in this case to trap the people having caused the death of the couple. After Anshi Ittoo’s brother, it is her father’s turn to be questioned by the MCIT. Chinta Ittoo, also called Daya, is thought to hold the “key to the mystery” surrounding the deaths of Anshi Ittoo and her lover, Ramesh Sandooram, whose bodies were found in Bassin-Blanc on 14th November 2002. The MCIT thought the father’s questioning was crucial, as they could not understand how he did not insist to go on the scene of the crime on that fateful day. The police are also suspicious about Chinta’s statement that he did not know about the relationship between his daughter and Ramesh Sandooram.

● New method of wage compensation

The National Wages Council is expected to become a reality at the end of next month. Through the new bill that will replace the Industrial Relations Act (IRA) of 1973, the wage compensation will be calculated according to new criteria and not only on the inflation rate as it has been so far. The National Wages Council, a tripartite organism, will be responsible for recommending the annual compensation rate – based on the employee’s productivity and the capacity of the company to pay. The minister of Labour and Industrial relations, Vasant Bunwaree, is convinced that most employees will take advantage of this new system.
