Oppressive summer ahead…</B>
Summer promises to be hot and humid, according to the first forecasts from the meteorological station in Vacoas. As it gets closer – starting officially in two weeks’ time – the met director, Soobaraj Sok Appadu, warns that the season may be very uncomfortable at certain times. The peak of heat should be reached between January and March where temperatures are expected to be 2 to 4 degrees higher than average. The station also forecasts heavy rains as from mid-December that might cause flash floods. As for cyclones, it should be a “normal” season with risks between the end of October and 15th May.
