Help save our turtles!
This ancient marine reptile, which you may be lucky enough to see swimming in our lagoons, used to come ashore in great numbers to lay its eggs on the beaches of Mauritius but unfortunately this is no longer the case? there have been reported only four nesting in the past 25 years!
We need to know more to protect these endangered species and so we are appealing to all the citizens of Mauritius to help us in mapping places where turtles once chose to lay their eggs. Do you, your friends or family members remember going to collect turtle eggs on any beaches around the island? If so, you can help. Just call our hotline and report the name of the beach and the year if you can. Together we can help build a picture of the most important places this species was dependent on and can help to secure its future?
