Future is uncertain! From the innocence of childhood to the flush of youthful overconfidence, through the trials and tribulations of middle age, ?the voyage of life? seems intrinsically linked to death.

Old age is a time to treasure. But unfortunately most people think otherwise; they resent old age and are scared of becoming old because for some elder people it is a time for tears. In quest of being more materially advanced, parents are forsaking their elders. That is why, even our teenagers lack courtesy and morality.

Our elders are seen as a burden, as a problem to be solved, whose rights are restricted by their need. No one talks about elder abuse. Elder abuse occurs when someone takes the money needed by an older person to live.

And then, we dare classify them as "boring." However, they are full of knowledge. Older people are the source of wisdom from whom the younger generation can obtain enlightenment and guidance. Of course, there can be values and aspects of thinking of some older people that the younger generations do not want to emulate. But it is not the end.

Elders can be best compared to trees ? that provide us with cool shade, shelter and fruits. Do we cut trees when they stop yielding fruits to us? Then why do we have to ill treat or look down upon our elders when they grow old. Elders are pillars of our country, of our culture, our economy, and our values. Hence, they should not be left aside.

The State can provide them with more entertainment and leisure facilities. An increase in pension and comfortable homes can also be given to them.

The days of the younger generation are also counted. Tomorrow they will be old. If today the parents are misbehaving with their elders, tomorrow their children will misbehave with them.
