Those who have the bad habit of losing, dropping or scratching their reading glasses should be happy with this original product imported from Australia. These “magnetic readers” are considered by their manufacturers as “the ultimate eyewear decision”. “Buy one perfect pair… keep them for life”, says the brochure. Roseline Gauthier and Michou Thevenet import them to Mauritius.

“The Clic concept is a clever collection of ‘framework’ streamlining active eyewear for the future. With its innovative continuous neck-strap and the magnetic connection at the bridge, Clic takes care of the issues we all have with losing, dropping, breaking, scratching and constantly replacing our eyewear”, reads the leaflet. When it is not in use, the Clic sits comfortably around the neck. “All the people I saw using it in Australia said they could not live without it,” revealed Michou.

The glasses are actually designed in America, made in Taiwan and imported from Australia. They are already numbered when they arrive in Mauritius – between 1.25 and 6. “However if they do not fit your vision – some people may have to wear different numbers for each lens – you can still get them changed at the optician’s,” comments the saleswoman. They are imported in eight different colours and cost Rs 1,300 a pair.

They have also started importing “twisters,” another type of spectacles. They are small spectacles with flexible ‘arms’ to protect the lenses so that “you can put them in your bag with no risk of damage”.

As they have no sales outlet for their products at the moment, the marketing is done by word of mouth. And if anyone is interested in seeing the products, they can call Roseline on 728 7514 or Michou on 784 2569…
