A class above!
By Deepa BHOOKHUN
Today is a most special day. Parliament reopens amidst solemnity and sobriety. On the agenda, to be discussed in the most serious way; is a man allowed to spend his money as he pleases, what should the choice of the MMM leader as to his future political partner be and of course the most important motion of disallowance that the celebrated Leader of the Opposition (known in some quarters as Pravind Jugnauth’s PRO) will table. This, we should be reminded, comes amidst a failed – and futile attempt to have the Leader of the House recall parliament… because of a rise in prices of commodities.
The first question, of the utmost national importance concerns, as we know the purchase of a car, an Aston Martin by a citizen of this country, who also happens to be its Prime minister. (A Prime minister who, mind you, doesn’t think that the Voice Of Hindu is a communal organisation- I am going to have to look up the word communal in the dictionary! I’m very confused all of a sudden!) But I digress; anyway, we’ll find that the laws do in fact permit such a purchase. The price of such a commodity is slightly exorbitant and boy I would love to possess such a car myself save for the fact that I can’t afford it – and I can’t drive- but then again that’s nobody’s business, is it now? So I wonder why the PM felt the need to go public with information that only concerns him? Beats me. But he did – most unwisely so- and since then, my Lord! Hell hath no fury like an opposition in want of inspiration!
The second matter of national importance- Paul Bérenger’s political love affairs- will not be debated in parliament but negotiations will surely start in the corridors. Now, who will it be? Pravind Jugnauth- the future Prime minister, we are told- has delegated Bodha to ensure that Bérenger is encouraged in his wooing of the MSM. Hopefully a rapprochement between the two parties will help to further the thinking process of the MSM and stop them from making complete fools of themselves.
Oh I haven’t told you, have I? You know how the MSM leader is going around telling whoever’s listening that when he takes over, tax will be a banned word in our dear motherland? Well, excited by such a prospect, we, at l’express aimed to find out more and got in touch with the people at the Sun Trust. Only to find out that Mr Jugnauth was not willing to enlighten us further. And when the same question was put to Nandho Bodha in a press interview that was published last Sunday, he chose not to answer. He instead said- a bit like in TV ads- “give us power and see how we will govern this country!” Humm… dubious, methinks…
Last on the agenda but certainly not least, Paul Bérenger has had the marvellous idea of blaming the government for the price increases. Obviously, as the MSM has stolen his leader of the opposition seat, it is comrade Nando who will table the motion of disallowance but we know where the idea comes from because we know that the enlightened idea of asking the PM to recall parliament came from Bérenger’s great mind.
Wow! Such joy to behold! Such great discussions and debates between our great politicians to look forward too! And you, admirable people of this country, will be busy at work and will miss it all!
But don’t you worry, dear readers; after all, that’s why we’re here and even though our existence seems to greatly bother Mr Bérenger, we shall endeavour to keep you posted on all developments.
So you can be proud of your politicians! A class above, I tell you, a class above!
