After filling all Mauritians with pride and joy, the three famous athletes are back in the country. Jonathan Chimier, Stephane Buckland and Eric Milazar were welcomed by their families, friends and fans at the airport on Sunday morning. All wanted to show their gratitude for allowing us to dream during these Olympic games.

They will all be rewarded for their exceptional performances. Jonathan Chimier and Stephane Buckland will receive Rs 500,000 each for having reached the finals while Eric Milazar will have Rs 250,000 for his place in the semi-finals.

The government has adopted a special bonus system, applicable only to the Olympic Games, to reward those athletes who reach a good ranking. It is also a way for the nation to recognise the champions and to thank them for making such good publicity for Mauritius.
