Jolie and Pitt top People’s ‘beautiful people’ list.</B> Whether or not Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie truly are linked romantically, the pair will always share this: People magazine on Wednesday named them 2005’s most beautiful man and woman. People also reckons motherhood becomes Julia Roberts. The Oscar-winning actress who gave birth to twins in November graces the cover of the magazine’s ‘50 Most Beautiful People’ special issue.
● <B> SANTA MARIA. Jackson’s ex-wife says she willingly defended him.</B> Michael Jackson’s former wife wiped away tears on Wednesday as she testified that the pop icon called her for help after the broadcast of a damaging British documentary in 2003 and that she agreed in the hope of seeing their family reunited. But Debbie Rowe said that contrary to prosecution assertions she was not bullied into giving an interview about her famous ex-husband and refused to follow a script.
● NEW YORK. US Actress sparks controversy with 9/11 comments. </B>A fan Web site dedicated to Maggie Gyllenhaal has shut down its bulletin board after the actress drew a storm of criticism for suggesting America was ‘responsible in some way’ for the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks. The actress, who starred in ‘Secretary’ in 2002, made the comments last week at the Tribeca Film Festival while speaking about her new film, ‘The Great New Wonderful”.
● LONDON. Beckham ‘Pilgrims’ follow their idol’s boyhood trail. </B>Devotees of English soccer captain David Beckham have a new way to worship their hero – a “pilgrims trail” round his humble London roots. Taking advantage of his global fame, a local council has created the ‘Beckham Trail’ including his birthplace, his school and the playing fields where he first learned his trade.
● <B>TECHNOLOGY. Nokia launches first phone with built-in hard drive.</B> The world’s largest mobile phone maker, Nokia,
launched a new range of “Nseries” phones on Wednesday, including its first model with a built-in hard drive. Nokia said two of the phones, the N90 and the N70, will have 2-megapixel cameras. The N91 multimedia phone will have a 4-gigabyte hard drive for music files. It said the N90 would be in shops in the second quarter. The N70 phone will hit the shelves in the third quarter, with the N91 due out by the end of the year.
