Enough of the slough: the need for explanations

For years now, we have been striving to have our road equipped with a drain system as on each and every rainfall our road is transformed into a real slough. We have been patient for years, but now we say enough and we are bringing this matter out publicly. Please note that this has nothing to do with the recent heavy rainfall, but this situation has been going on for years.

You do not realize the inconvenience this can cause to our families every time rain falls ? We have to walk in 5-10 cms of muddy and filthy water to gain access to our individual residences without speaking of what this does to our children ?

We are aware that a ?drain project? has been allocated for Sainte Croix, but unfortunately all works, wherever it had reached, stopped after the Père Laval pilgrimage last year.

Are we not citizens of thistown ?

Do we not pay regular taxes to the Municipality and other services ?

So why are we being neglec-ted ?

We avail ourselves of this opportunity to ask the minister of Water Resources Unit to explain to us why for years we are having water cuts from 08.45 hrs till 15.45 hrs and again as from 21.30 hrs everyday whereas in other areas such as Père Laval Avenue, Higginson Street and other surrounding areas there is no cut the water supply. We were told once by an employee of CWA that this is because there are businesses on these streets ? Does this imply that these people are more favoured than us and if so, do they pay a higher rate than us or do we all pay the same water rate??
