Still not appointed after four years
We are a group of around 84 nursing officers, who were recruited as student nurses in September 2000 by the Mauritius Public Service Commission, for the ministry of Health and Quality of Life.
We obtained our certificate in General Nursing on 14th November 2003. We are deeply concerned by the fact that, even after one full year of registration with the Nursing Council, we have not yet been considered for appointment to the grade of nursing officer as stipulated in the ?Conditions for training and allowance.?
It should be pointed out that on 29th October 2004, the Mauritius Public Service Commission advertised vacancies for the enlistment as student nurse for the ministry of Health and Quality of l ife. We consider that this action all but validates the fact that there are vacancies for nursing officers in relevant health institutions.
We consider that the authorities concerned should realise that frustration is only a stumbling block towards the proper functioning of any professional group.
In our due consciousness, we urge the ministry of Health and Quality of life to undertake necessary steps for our appointment as nursing officers. We look forward to a constructive and fruitful realization.
