Questions to GTU council members
In view of the special general meeting to held next Saturday, we would like to ask the following questions to GTU council members:
SPECIAL GENERAL MEETING
? Why did you choose the school vacations to organize a special general meeting ?
? Is GTU afraid to face its members ?
Isn?t it an act of cowardice to organize a meeting en catimini
? Why did members receive convocation letters on the last day of the 2nd term?
? Is GTU imitating another organization which has the habit of holding meetings during school vacations ?
? Why not hold them during term time ?
AMENDMENTS
? Why did GTU not circulate the amendments in details as required by regulations ?
? What are the proposed amendments ? Why have they not been circulated in schools ?
? Why is GTU paying
Rs 4,000 monthly to two federations when its financial situation is gloomy? Why remain in two federations?
? Will there be expulsion of two opponents ?
? Is there any attempt to baffle democracy ?in Mugabe style?
PRB REPORT
? Why did GTU not inform demonstrators of the protest march of its intention of proposing fusion and abolishing seniority for DHTs ?
? Why did GTU forget GP teachers and DHTs who are paying Rs 25 monthly to the union ?
? Do council members know that there is growing anger against them in schools?
RALLIEMENT DES DEMOCRATES (RDD)
? Why is GTU afraid of the shadow of RDD?
In a statement made to the press, GTU affirms: ?As regards the street demonstrations , we are sorry to say that had Ralliement des Démocrates , who claims to fight for teachers rights ? been present on that 29th March we would all surely have benefited much from PRB.?
? Can we conduce that GTU recognizes the striking force of RDD?
? Does it mean that GTU council members have been incapable of defending members and have failed to do so ?
? Can we conclude that RDD has the capacity, technical know-how and the stamina of fighting for teachers ?
? Does the council members know that RDD cannot participate in a demonstration where teachers have been betrayed by not telling them the truth of their intention of proposing fusion and not fighting for maintaining seniority for DHTs? RDD has never betrayed teachers and cannot associate itself with those who do so.
