Eid Mubarak!
It is now the turn of Mauritians of Muslim faith to celebrate! After the blessed month of Ramadan, Eid-Ul-Fitr is the day when all Muslims rejoice. The month of Ramadan is a very special one for Muslims. Although it carries a lot of sacrifice with it, it is also a period of meditation where believers purify their body and soul. Eid marks the end of Ramadan. Of course, it will be the day for festivities, the day when new clothes are worn and when good food is shared with relatives and friends. But it is also a day for prayers and generosity towards those who do not have the financial means to celebrate. The Zakaat and Sadqua-E-Fitr is a form of tax, which allows those who earn money to distribute some to the needy well beforehand to ensure that the latter can also afford Eid happiness and fully enjoy the festival?
