Race 1 ? The Noble Salute Plate
Shortly after entering the final straight Life Together shifted out from the whip and had to be taken in off the heels of French Lightning and had to be checked off the heels of Whizz Cat, which had shifted out. Since Life Together had contributed to the incident, no action was taken against jockey Bundhoo, however he was advised to straighten his mounts when they shift ground. Passing the 100 metres, Rakatak shifted out, resulting in French Lightning having to be checked off its heels and losing ground. At an inquiry into this incident, jockey Naiko pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under Rule 161 (c) and was fined Rs 10,000.
Race 3 ? Le Trophée des Moulins de la Concorde Ltée
An objection was lodged by jockey Emamdee, rider of the second placed horse, President Bill, against Road Rover (P. Botha), being declared the winner, alleging that Road Rover, upon entering the straight, shifted out causing his mount to hesitate and forcing him to have to shift in. After taking evidence from both riders and trainers and viewing the relevant videos, the objection was dismissed. Acting upon Rule 176, jockey Emamdee was fined Rs 5 000 for lodging a frivolous objection. Jockey Boutanive reported that Flaming Alexander was not striding out from the 400 metres. A subsequent veterinary examination of the horse revealed that it was lame on both fore fetlocks. In view of this report, trainer S. Ramdin was advised that this horse has been suspended indefinitely. The Club?s Veterinary Surgeon reported that Solus was lame on the off fore leg. In view of this, trainer S. Henry was advised that this horse will need a veterinary certificate before being allowed to race again.
Race 4 ? The You You Cup
Approaching the 1300 metres Philonikon shifted out, Young Warrior which was following, had to be steadied and threw its head up. Shortly after, Young Warrior had to be checked and threw its head up when Articflo shifted in. At an inquiry into this incident, jockey Jones was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under Rule 161 (c) and was fined Rs 20,000. Passing the 500 metres Musical Guy was cramped for room and had to be checked off the heels of Cherry Bite when the latter shifted in. At an inquiry into this incident, apprentice Bussunt pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under Rule 161 (c) and was fined Rs 20,000. Passing the 1300 metres Don Correro, which was racing fiercely, threw its head up when being settled off the heels of Hathaari. Jockey Botha reported that the bit broke in the mouth of Spinning Honor and that he was unable to control his mount for the remainder of the race.
Race 7 ? The norbert poupard cup
Passing the 1500 metres, Mr. Sunbeam, when being settled, threw its head up and shifted in. Kings Arms raced wide on the first turn and compounded in the final straight. A subsequent veterinary examination of the horse revealed no abnormality.
Race 8 ? The france ulcoq plate
Approaching the 300 metres, the saddle on Breeze On Past slipped sideways, placing its rider at a disadvantage and forcing him to pull the horse out of the race. At the 200 metres Kadjar when taken out, clipped the heels of Satins Rare and stumbled badly.
