Race 1 ? The Azul Plate
Shortly after the start Power Block was cramped for room between Foxworthy and Dazzling Mufti and had to be eased. Burning Sensation raced wide on the first turn and Storm Chaser raced wide on the final turn.
Race 2 ? Prix Longchamp
Passing the 1200 metres Redcoat, when being eased off the heels of Accelerate, shifted out slightly and brushed Drum Major on its outside. From the start to the 600 metres, Dempster raced fiercely with a tendency to hang out. Passing the 600 metres Accelerate was taken out to avoid the heels of Dempster and raced wide from thereon.
Race 3 ? The Robinson cup
From the 200 to the 100 metres, Rambo Royale had some difficulty obtaining a clear run.
Race 4 ? The Blyth Centenary Cup
The Club?s Veterinary Surgeon reported that Jackson Square was lame on its off fore leg. Consequently, the horse was withdrawn today at 9 a.m. (Yesterday). As a result, all bets on this horse were ordered to be refunded and betting with bookmakers was re-opened. Jockey Schlechter reported that Shah?s Star lost a shoe in running.
Race 5 ? The winner?s challenge cup
The Stewards lodged an objection on behalf of the 3rd placed horse, National Lore (V. Naiko) against the 2nd placed horse, Glory Gulch alleging interference near the 100 metres. After taking evidence from both riders and trainers and viewing the relevant videos, the objection was upheld and the placings altered to read : 1st : Rhythmically, 2nd : National Lore, 3rd : Glory Gulch, 4th : Cats Eye. The Club?s Veterinary Surgeon reported that Berry Boy was lame in the off fore leg. In view of this, trainer P. Henry was advised that this horse will need a veterinary certificate before being allowed to race again.
Race 6 ? The Lions clubs international cup
At an inquiry into the running and riding of Lad Of Leinster, apprentice Rama was found guilty of a charge under Rule 161 (f) for over-restraining his mount from the 400 metre-mark to the 350 metre-mark on the first occasion. He was fined Rs 10 000.
Race 7 ? the leoville l?homme cup
Approaching the 100 metres, Wrigley Fields had to be steadied and taken in in order to obtain a clear run.
Race 8 ? the Wild amber plate
Objections were lodged by jockeys Emamdee (Highstakes) and Bundhoo (Move Ahead), riders of 3rd and 2nd placed horses respectively against Fitz Dancer (G. Schlechter), being declared the winner, alleging interference near the 100 metres and over the concluding stages. After taking evidence from all riders and trainers and viewing the relevant videos, both objections were dismissed.
