UK rail commuters see no light at end of tunnel
Britain?s commuters are fed up with trains they say are less punctual and more crowded than five years ago and few believe the situation will improve, according to a survey published yesterday.
Consumer magazine Which? said its poll of peak-hour passengers at eight major stations revealed delayed trains caused 40 per cent of passengers to be late for work and almost half to be late home.
?The travelling public seem to have been all but forgotten in the discussions about the future of railways. Commuters face fewer trains, higher fares and no improvement in performance,? said Which? editor Helen Parker.
Only 17 per cent of the commuters thought the rail service had improved in the last two years and only one in ten believed the service would improve in the next two years, Which? said.
