● When will Trou-aux-Biches hotel start its renovation works?

The renovation of Trou aux Biches hotel initially planned for November 2007 will finally start in May when the hotel should be demolished. Works will go on for two years.

● How will the new hotel be different from the existing one?

It will be completely different. First of all, the road separating the hotel from the golf course will disappear. The hotel will be extended ? from 194 rooms to 460 new rooms, family apartments and villas. The hotel will then have its missing star to become a five-star palace for luxury guests. The new one-km road will go through the present golf course, which will be used for the social development of the area.

● After the controversy brought by the residents of Jhuboo Morcellement, how did the hotel get its Environmental Impact Assessment from the parent ministry?

The committee granted the EIA certificate with 27 conditions especially concerning a specific distance between the road and the houses of the morcellement and the respect of the planning policy guide, for instance.

● What will be the impact on the region?

This project is planned to create 400 to 500 direct jobs and 1,000 indirect ones. The Beachcomber Training Academy is planning a hotel school, also seen as an advantage of this project for the region. A post office and a community clinic will also accompany the new hotel.
