The Industrial Relations Act was at the heart of the celebration of Labour Day by trade unions. According to the leader of the Mauritius Trade Union Confederation (MTUC), Radakrishna Sadien, the party that will satisfy the trade unions is the one that will say for sure when the IRA will be replaced. ?Strike is a right,? chanted the trade unions, which had all grouped together for the occasion. The Mauritius Labour Congress, the MTUC, the National Trade Union Confederation, the Federation of Progressive Unions, the Federation of United Workers and the Rezistans Alternativ group all walked towards Patten College in Belle Rose after they had laid wreaths on the graves of late trade union leaders at St-Jean Cemetery. Tulsiraj Benydin hopes that all trade unions will remain united so as to be stronger and to push ahead with some decisions which had been left dormant. They hope the future government will make decisions on minimum wages, preservation of the welfare state, price control, etc?
