Speechcraft course for beginners
Is conquering your fear of public speaking something that you have a burning desire to do? Are you looking for advancement at work and do you therefore require the ability to speak to others during your business presentations? Do you simply want to learn how you can apply the basic principles of public speaking in your daily lives and reap the benefits?
If you?ve answered ?yes? to any or all of the above, you?re not alone. Many people have a fear of public speaking when they?re faced with having to give a presentation.
Effective speaking is not a talent others are born with ; it?s a skill they and you can learn.
How public speaking will benefit you :
It builds confidence, boosts self-esteem, helps you become more organized in the way that you think, realises your own potential and ability. Use it as an effective tool in the process of self-discovery. It gives you the courage to break out of your comfort zone, increases your leadership and social ability, helps you do well in job interviews and presentations to colleagues at work. You can influence people by your speaking skills.
The 8-session course covers all the basic principles of public speaking, including creating and delivering a powerful presentation. Our speechcraft course in English provides a unique learning experience in a cordial, friendly and supportive environment. This allows you to quickly build your confidence as you experiment and learn through practical experiential learning. Consequently our intake will be limited to five participants.
Course Content : 1. Preparation. 2. Controlling nervousness. 3. Connect with the audience. 4. Topic selection/structuring the talk. 5. Posture/voice projection. 6. Body language/Using gestures. 7. Using props & exhibits and 8. Handling questions.
Target Group: middle-level managers in the public, para-statal or private sectors wanting to keep a job and move ahead in that job. Date and time: the course will be conducted on Saturdays from 9.00 to 11.00 hours on 7th, 14th, 21st, 28th May and 4th, 11th, 18th and 25th June 2005.
