● Manupan goes bankrupt ? Employees of Manupan could be settled on their future today. The dismissal letters of the 300 employees were frozen until today because they could well keep their jobs if the company finds someone to buy it out. The State intends to inject money into the company to pay the employees? wages this month. For the receiver manager, Raj Gangoosirdar, the State will then be faced with two possibilities. ?Either it becomes the partner of the company taking up Manupan or it sells its shares to the new company.? For the latter, the main reasons for the financial situation of Manupan were a lack of capital as well as a lack of vision.
● For more transparent price fixing ? The Bank of Mauritius appeals to the food supply chain. Even though the bank?s second vice-governor, Ahmad Jameel Khadaroo, has acknowledged that the upward trend of food prices was mostly due to international factors ? rise in the demand of raw materials and drop in the offer of these products mainly because of bad climatic conditions ? he nevertheless said that there were also internal causes for this. As a result he asked for more transparency in the fixing of such prices.
