lexpress.mu | Toute l'actualité de l'île Maurice en temps réel.

It has been nine years since I came in Mauritius. I used to live in Paris before and come to Mauritius for holidays and I was telling myself that I would settle down here someday. Then I came here earlier than I thought.

What has motivated me to settle down is the peaceful environment here. I also like the warm hospitality and the people very much. Here there is no rush. It?s less stressful than living in Paris. Living here makes me feel a sense of well-being. There are things, which I have been able to achieve here, which would have been impossible in France. In my area, theirs is often power cuts but I think it?s not a big problem. I don?t find anything to complain about here. Mauritius is impeccable!

There are a lot of leisure activities in Mauritius but there?s a gap in the south region of the country however. It is a bit bothersome but it will improve with development. There is a need for more hotels and IRS projects in the south while taking into consideration both development and environmental issues.

It?s more pleasant to work here and especially when your passion has become your profession. I?m working as entomologist at La Vanille Park where I have set up a section for butterflies. There are about 30 species of butterflies in Mauritius. The butterfly species, which has fascinated me the most is the Monarch. This butterfly is a migrating species and it travels over long distances. In the case of Mauritius, they have come from Seychelles. In Mauritius, the number of insect species is quite limited. It?s difficult to find them unless you use certain trap methods. Insects have always fascinated me since childhood. I have dedicated myself to the study of insects. It needs lots of love and patience.
