?Harry Potter? stays on top of UK box office
The latest Harry Potter film topped the UK box office chart for the second week running but was losing some of its magic powers, taking in less than half than on its opening weekend. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban made 4.4 million pounds in Britain and Ireland last weekend, chart compiler Screen International said on Tuesday, compared to 9.5 million pounds on its debut weekend.
Apocalyptic drama The Day After Tomorrow stayed in second position, with takings of 1.9 million pounds.
Epic drama Troy, starring Brad Pitt as Greek warrior Achilles, stayed in third place with takings of just under 720,750 pounds, followed by vampire thriller Van Helsing.
Top newcomer was Connie and Carla at number five, a comedy about two struggling Chicago dinner theatre performers who accidentally witness a mafia hit.
Bad Education, Spanish director Pedro Almodovar?s dark story of child abuse and the Catholic church, dropped one place to six.
Indian romantic comedy Hum Tum and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind made up the rest of the Top 10, along with two newcomers: ?I?m Not Scared?, based on Niccolo Ammaniti?s novel, and Dev, a Bollywood thriller.
