A message to all persons eligible to vote
Please remember that you are an integral member of this society and as such, you have a moral duty to take part in electing your member of parliament. By refusing to vote, you abnegate your responsibility as a citizen. The statistics will not show that as evidence that you are discontented. Il feel that in a worst case scenario, if you are still relectant to vote for anyone in particular, vote blank and that will be reflected when the ballot box is opened and the votes counted. Voting is one of the most important things that we do, we owe it not to the candidates but to ourselves and the traditioin that we cherished, that is the right and freedom to vote for whom we like.
If you have already decided who to vote for, that?s fine. If you are still undecided, listen to the arguments and consider all the possible options but most of all ou must exercise your right at the ballot box. You must bear in mind that in some parts of the world voting is allowed to elect the representatives who will govern their country, it is still a phoney exercise a veil to fool the eyes of the rest of the world, a place where elections are neither fair nor free. In Mauritius we are lucky enough to choose our leaders in a truly democratic way, so please do not waste that golden opportunity to choose your member of parliament.
I say this whilst taking into account that a number of countries find themselves under a dictatorship, a country with a one party system where voting is allowed but yet is a sham. So let us count our blessings and appreciate that that we live in a country where the elections are free and fair. So remember that it is your duty as a responsible to cast your vote.
