«La faute à qui ?»

«Vol chez des touristes à Flic-en-Flac : L?appartement des Britanniques était sans licence.» C?est là le titre que nous livre l?express dans son édition du 8 janvier. Je me demande ce que le fait que l?appartement n´ait pas été enregistré change à la situation, c?est-à-dire au cambriolage. N´est ce pas la criminalité qu´il faut réduire. Ma question est : est-ce que l´enregistrement de l´appartement aurait empêché le vol ?

En fait les autorités montrent leur incompétence en matière de sécurité pour tous les Mauriciens. La prochaine fois, ils diront que c´est la faute aux journaux qu´il y a des vols car les journaux font état des faits divers.

Ma fille est actuellement en vacances à Maurice avec des amis, et je dois avouer que je ne serai pas tranquille tant qu?elle ne sera pas rentrée en Norvège !

?Truth hurts?

I read with great interest the article «How Safe Are You?» by your correspondent Suresh RAMPHUL. The author should bear in mind that not all crimes,attacks and thefts on tourists are reported to Police. So the official figures released by the authorities does not reflect the real number of crimes on our visitors.

By the same token, some thefts are reported by tourists, just as means to skim their travel insurances .An official Police report will assist them claiming insurance when they are back in their countries.But the number of such insurance frauds are far and few.

However, the most important message I have for you, is that when you tell the truth, you are considered anti-government.Un-Mauritian,and you are branded. Doors will be locked for you,and if you hold office in a Government job, you may as well reconsider your future.

Our pollies definitely do not like to hear the truth and address the problem. They want the public at large to be naive and believe that all but milk and honey flows in the banana republic.

I for one will also be classified as anti-government, un-Mauritian, for having such views.
