More transparent purchases ? The public sector is taking steps to become more transparent. The Central Tender Board will no longer be responsible for the purchase of goods for the public sector. With the implementation of the Public Procurement Act next Thursday, purchases will be done through transparent and efficient invitations to tender. A meeting will be held at Government House tomorrow to give details about the new system to the private sector.

Potential exists for a paper recycling factory. A delegation of Chinese businessmen will arrive in the country shortly to survey and discuss business opportunities in Mauritius. Their first project concerns this factory in La Tour Koenig where they would invest Rs 200 million but they could well set up other projects.
