Why did the last meeting of the municipal council of Quatre-Bornes take place in such a tense atmosphere?

Members of the council were quite anxious about the date of the return of the elected mayor of Quatre-Bornes, Munee Seetohul, to his post. The mayor of Quatre-Bornes was arrested by the Independent Commission against Corruption (Icac) because he is accused of having participated in a meeting while his wife was an applicant for a stall at the market of Quatre-Bornes. He has thus stepped down from his post pending the end of the enquiry ? after he ?has been cleared by the competent authorities?. Vijay Beeharry also resigned from his post as the president of the Finance committee after he was arrested by the Icac.
