Myanmar junta leader looks fine
Myanmar junta leader Than Shwe, rumoured recently to have been ousted or ill, looks fine, Thai Foreign Minister Kantathi Suphamongkhon said yesterday after meeting the top five generals of the military leadership. “I am not a doctor, but from my discussion with him and the others for an hour and 20 minutes, he was articulate and from my visual assessment, he is normal,” he told reporters in Bangkok via a teleconference.
Rumours swept Yangon and Bangkok last week that Than Shwe, 73, had been ousted or was gravely ill.
