Tom Cruise says love for Katie Holmes is real
Hollywood movie star Tom Cruise denied rumors his relationship with actress Katie Holmes was just a fabricated publicity stunt.?I have to laugh. It?s just ridiculous,? Cruise said at the European premiere of the film ?War of the Worlds? in Berlin.?Something magnificent has happened to me and something extraordinary and I?m so happy I can?t restrain myself.?
Recent polls in People magazine and US Weekly showed that more than 60 percent of those responding thought the romance between the two was a publicity stunt to promote upcoming films.Holmes stars in ?Batman Begins,? due for release on June 15. The movie ?War of the Worlds,? directed by Steven Spielberg, is based on a novel by H.G. Wells. Cruise plays a father trying to save his children in the story of alien conquest.
?It?s just a great story, I remember being a kid growing up and hearing about the H.G. Wells radio play and the effect that that had on society,? Cruise said. The radio production of the novel in 1938 was so lifelike that many listeners believed an alien invasion of the planet was really taking place.
