<B>Debates postponed on Revenue Authority Bill </B>

Deputy prime minister and Finance minister, Pravind Jugnauth, has declared that the new legislation for the restructuring of the Mauritius Revenue Authority will not be debated in Parliament today. This will give the concerned parties time to reach a consensus. The trade unions have expressed their qualms and uncertainties regarding the working conditions of the Mauritius Revenue Authority employees. Pravind Jugnauth says that the government is fully aware of their apprehensions and is currently working towards an understanding with the trade unions.

<B>Young woman brutally stabbed</B>

21-year-old Marjorie was violently stabbed last week by her 44-year-old husband, Jacques Eugène. Her father, Margéot Boodiah, discovered her body two days later at her residence in Ollier Avenue, Rose Hill. She had been stabbed several times and her throat slit. Jacques Eugène committed suicide shortly after murdering his young wife. He was a violent man who suffered from pathological jealousy. He had apparently tried to kill Marjorie once before and he constantly suspected her of having affairs.
