Se méfier des avantages

Afin d?éviter toute mauvaise surprise à cause du Prevention of Corruption Act, tout fonctionnaire a intérêt à seméfier de certains avantages.

En effet, selon l?alinéa 15 (a) de cette loi : « Any public official who solicits, accepts or obtains a gratification for himself or for any other person from a person, whom he knows to have been, or to be likely to be, concerned in any proceeding or business transacted or about to be transacted by him, or having any connection with his functions or those of any public official to whom he is subordinate or of whom he is the superior shall commit an offence and shall, on conviction, be liable to penal servitude for a term not exceeding 10 years. »

Cette même loi définit la gratification comme étant « a gift, reward, discount, premium or other advantage, other than lawful remuneration ». Sont classés Public Officials « a Minister, a member of the National Assem-bly, a public officer, a local government officer, an employee or a member of a local authority, a member of a Commission set up under the Constitution, an employee or member of a statutory corporation, or an employee or director of any Government company and includes a Judge, an arbitrator, an assessor or a member of a jury ».
