Celebrating 36 years of independence
On 12th March 1968, Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam solemnly raised the Mauritian flag for the first time. This year is the 36th anniversary of Independence Day and the 12th anniversary of the Republic. The official ceremony to mark these events will be held at 10 am on 12th March at Champ de Mars. The ministry of arts & culture is organising a cultural show on the same evening on Port-Louis Waterfront. On 11th March, the Jump Around Youth Concert will be held at the Plaza, Rose-Hill, from midday to 3 pm.
