The interview of Mr J.Poncini has unleashed a sublime blend of Mauritian history and the island`s gradual economic development. In a society where we are all obsessed with technological progress and economic empowerment, we tend to leave behind the richness of the past.

When I read the interview in which Mr Poncini talks about the sugar industry and the concept of diversification, I felt impressed by the successful symbiosis of economics and history.

Being part of today`s youth, I must admit to have seldom thought about other issues than economic development in pure terms. The era of the Global village? must not veil the teachings of the past.

It was pleasantly surprising to know that Mr Poncini observes an equilibrium between the business world and the socio-historic aspects. I strongly believe that it is a throbbing model of the attitude to sustained and consistent economic success for Mauritius.

Also, hats off to his words of wisdom about patriotism and the sense of duty towards the country which opens a new avenue of thought to the new generation. The interview really brings productive thoughts about the ingredients to a better future be it as a nation or a simple citizen.
