Nineteen people from the same family were killed yesterday when their overcrowded jeep collided with a bus in northern India. ?Seventeen people died on the spot and two died in hospital?, Police Inspector Manvendra Singh said. Three generations of a family returning from a temple were crammed into the jeep, designed to carry ten people, when it crashed into the bus, he pointed out.

Another four people suffered critical injuries in the accident, which occurred 35 km (22 miles) west of Jaipur, capital of Rajasthan state.
