The US has once again suggested that an India-like nuclear deal was not possible with Pakistan . ?There was no possibility of civil nuclear cooperation between the two countries. We are trying to meet and achieve Pakistan?s energy goals. What we are doing with Pakistan, we are not doing with India. We are working with Pakistan on a long-term strategic partnership in the areas of economy, education, energy and the fight against terrorism,? the Daily Times quoted US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs, Richard Boucher as saying while speaking to media persons at the US embassy.

On the occasion, Boucher also allayed fears that the US-India nuclear deal could spark a nuclear arms race in the region.

Expressing ?serious concern? about the Iran-Pakistan-India gas pipeline, he said that his country supported a gas pipeline from Turkmenistan. ?We are also looking at other sources of energy including hydel, wind and coal,? he said.
