New British High Commissioner arrives in Mauritius
The new British High Commissioner, Anthony Godson, arrived yesterday, with his wife Margaret, to take up his appointment. He is replacing David Snoxell, who retired on 18th November. Aged 56, Anthony Godson joined the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) in 1966. After spending four years at the FCO headquarters, he was posted around the world in places as varied as Bucharest, Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta, Canberra, New York and Kinshasa. He spent the last two years in the FCO before being appointed here. Anthony Godson says he is now “very pleased to be here and looking forward to fostering continued good relations between the United Kingdom and Mauritius.”
