“It is the best leaving present they could have given me”, said an emotional Jean-Pascal Gerber. After five years spent at the Lycée Labourdonnais, he is moving this year. But there is no doubt that he is leaving with beautiful memories: his school reached a 100 % pass rate in the Baccalauréat results that came out last Thursday. The Lycée des Mascareignes also scored the excellent result of 94.6 %.

In fact, the results of the Lycée Labourdonnais have kept on improving for the past three years. From 97 % two years ago, they went up to 99 % last year and finally reached the coveted 100 % this year. “When we obtained 99 % last year, I felt that, if we were to reach 100 %, it would be this year because this was a really good year,” says the headmaster. “We’ve won the bet!”

“The school has always had a culture of effort and work but I think this year has been a special one,” said Jean-Pascal Gerber. Of course, the personal involvement of the administrative and teaching staff has also played an important role in this success.

What makes this success even more rewarding – this year and in previous ones – is that “we keep all our pupils. Instead of rejecting those who may be lagging behind, we do everything possible to integrate them in the system and that works pretty well,” he explains.
