Lightning kills six in South Africa
Six South African men were killed when lightning hit a hut packed with Christmas Eve revellers in central Kwazulu-Natal province, police said on Sunday. Police spokesman Vusi Mbatha said the incident occurred on Saturday in Nongoma when lightning struck a traditional thatched-roof hut, setting it alight. ?It was burned and collapsed over them. Six people died and they were all burned beyond recognition,? Mbatha told SABC radio, adding the victims were all men aged between 20 and 41. He said at least three people managed to escape from the burning hut with only light injuries and were being treated at a local hospital.
