Lebanon ex-minister dies from wounds in Hariri blast
A Lebanese former economy minister who was badly burnt in the blast that killed ex-premier Rafik al-Hariri in February died from his injuries at a Paris hospital yesterday, friends of the family said.
Basil Fuleihan was in the car with Hariri when a large bomb ripped through their motorcade in Beirut on Feb. 14. Hariri died instantly but Fuleihan survived despite bad burns to more than 90 per cent of his body. He was flown to Percy Hospital in France where he died. Fuleihan, who held a British passport, was one of the Hariri?s top aides and was credited for the success of many of his economic policies. Fuleihan is survived by a wife and two children.
