Desbro back in business…
The government considers it has done its best. Desbro International has finally accepted the deal… for the time being. The decision was not immediate after the government accepted to increase the price of iron bars by 20% but the company has made a move. This indicates that the sector will not suffer from shortages but for how long? The management of Desbro did not hide its disappointment after the government decided to increase the price of iron bars by 20% only, as the company had asked for a 37% increase.
But Desbro has not given up the fight – far from it! If it has agreed to reopen its factory and resume work, it is under certain conditions.The managing director of Desbro, Ranjeev Ramdoo, has made it clear – “The ministry of Industry and Trade has made some commitments. We will now see if it will abide by them.” However, a recent interview in l’express tended to show that minister Jeetah would keep his stand.
