Hull or Hell ?
Through MBC news, last weekend, our Prime Minister criticised our doctors in diabetic clinics about not examinig the eyes and feet of our patients. Does he know how many patients these doctors have to look after in a given lapse of time? Does he realise, as a physician himself, how long it takes to do a vascular and a neurological examination of a diabetic foot ? Are the clinics provided with ophthalmoscopes for eye examination ? And how many primary care physicians like myself are trained to do ophthalmoscopic examination ? Has he ever visited a local dispensary or the outpatient department of any of our hospitals ? Mr Prime Minister, we are world away from Hull (Yorkshire)
