An exhibition of art work produced by senior students of Le Bocage International School will be hosted at the school this week. The works have been created as part of their formal examination for the International Baccalaureate Diploma.

The private view, held yesterday, featured an auction of selected artwork. This event has been inspired by Auction Red Sothebys, organized by Bono of U2 and artist Damien Hirst, which was held in February this year in New York. Money at Auction Red was donated to HIV/AIDS charities. At Le Bocage, the initiative aims to raise funds for a local association A.H.P.I. The Association d?hébergement pour les personnes inadaptées provides a home in Roches-Brunes and cares for children and people with special needs. With each student donating artwork, there will be ten lots available for auction. It is expected that the auction ?buyers? will be from the school community, although all art lovers are welcome to participate.

?Art is not static and the collective work that has emerged from the 2008 art group is diverse, experimental and challenging. Painting, sculpture, assemblage, mixed media, installation, graphic art are amongst the various different practices of visual arts that the students have explored. For many of the students, Art supplies a means to make comments, and be ?heard? as they develop personal views of themselves in relation to the world around them", says Andy Scott, headmaster of Le Bocage International School.
