«Our ordeal on line Rose-Belle to Port-Louis»
Des habitants de New-Grove, Rose-Belle et Union ? Park racontent leurs misères quotidiennes au président de la National Transport Authority (NTA) au commissaire de police.
«We the habitants of New-Grove, Rose-Belle and Union Park, who travel daily to St-Jean and Port-Louis, have to face untold difficulties to reach our work.To arrive at our office or site of work in tim,we have to be at the bus stop as from 6.30-6.50, after which it becomes hell to get a sitting accomadation. However the trip to Port-Louis is rarely one of pleasure an stress-free.
Below a list of problems we have to face.
There is no fixed time for the bus to pass at New-Grove and Rose-Belle. When they do arrive, full, with a dozen standing passengers, there is less chance for getting on board if we want a sitting accomadation. We have to wait 30 minutes and in consequence we reach our work place very late.
Any late arrival at work is obviously sanctioned, both in government services and in the private sector.
Another reason for our frustration is the whimsy caprice of the drivers, they would drive at ?vitesse escargot? if there is a bus which precede them, but if ever there is a bus behind them, the same bus abruptly goes at great speed and then this ? bonjour douleur? for those passengers hanging up on the support tube.
The same scenario operates in the afternoon when people return back home, at Les Pailles, Ebène, St Jean(Basalt) and Phoenix (Pont Fer). A sitting accommodation is not posible to travel decently rather than like animals packed in lorries.
Women and girls passengers feel humiliated when some people would press against them while standing, not all men obviously.
So, we appeal to you so that we can travel in betterand less tiresome and stressful conditions.
In addition, we ask for more express bus in peak time(6.45-7.15 a.m) and in the afternoon (4.00 ?7.15 a.m) and in the afternoon (4.00 p.m to 5.15).
We demand a set schedule of bus with the day and time clearly visible for (route 198 and route 199) in the bus stop of New-Grove , Gébert , Central of Rose-Belle, St Jean, Phoenix and Port-Louis, so that in weekdays or in week-ends, all those who are travelling know the time. Consequently if your department can monitor the bus programme during peak days it will reduce the misuse of time table by dishonest bus company or bus owners because finally the passengers are the first victims.
