You ain?t seen nothing yet. Perhaps that is the best way to qualify the situation in a government ministry. The prime minister orders the suspension of a number of ?conseils d?administration? that fall under the responsibility of that particular minister. His reaction, most stupefying to say the least, is to freely admit not having been told the reasons. It is crystal clear that his authority had been undermined; you would have expected a robust reaction from him, but nothing of the sort, merely a meek response

The two main opposition parties spend their time squabbling with each other instead of fighting their common adversary. One of the two parties has pretensions above its station despite the fact that it can claim scant popularity. Is the leader suffering from ?Delusions of Grandeur?? The other party though more popular still has great difficulty in identifying a prime minister in waiting. What can we expect next in this political soap?

Politicians frequently tell us that they are against socio-cultural organizations but they speak and act differently when their need for power arises. Is it true that you need to be two-faced to be a politician?

The recent debacle in the election of a president of a district council proves clearly that for politicians, democracy in action is a question of whim. When will the time come when someone is elected president of a district council or mayor of a municipality on his or her abilities alone?

We have repeatedly heard that private radios need to be better controlled and that new laws are forthcoming. I wonder why, after all, access to these radios is freely available to one and all. Perhaps what is more urgently required is ensuring a fairer and more equitable share of the airwaves on our national broadcasting service.

It is a shame that the opposition parties do not always probe and question the various ministers when the situation demands it. I feel that it is high time that the main opposition party consider having a shadow cabinet or failing that at least have identified spokespersons to speak on specific issues to the media instead of relying solely on the leader to respond each and every time
