The right to residency
An article in l?express dimanche mentioned the threat of deportation of Ms. Ghislaine Vandeputte, an expatriate living in Mauritius. To tell you the truth, I think the Mauritian government has been very accommodating to Ms. Vandeputte considering she is no longer married to a Mauritian. Moreover, I don?t think the President of France has any right to interfere in our country?s immigration policy, considering France is the least friendly country towards immigrants. Before a Mauritian can get a visa to work or visit France, we have to go through numerous procedures. Why should Mauritius be any less strict to overseas visitors?
Ms. Vandeputte does NOT have any right to be angry towards our government.
She has indeed been treated very nicely.

<B>Relieve the burden</B>
We, the heirs of late Abdool Rajack Goburdhun, proprietor of the lake at Bassin-Blanc and all his land, wish to inform that the Government of Mauritius has already surveyed our land in order to purchase the latter by compulsory acquisition.
The Cabinet has already approved the move and the minister of Land and Housing has already published a notice in the Government Gazette as well as in local newspapers.
As the Government of Mauritius is bent towards ?putting people first?, we therefore hope that we will get our money without any further delay, as most of the heirs of late Abdool Rajack Goburdhun are leading a very miserable life due to lack of money. We really depend on the outcome of this transaction to survive and we know that this government will do his best as he has always done for poor people.
