Bob Marley?s ex-manager convicted on drug charge

A former best friend and one-time manager of Reggae superstar Bob Marley (photo) was convicted on marijuana charges at the end of a seven-day trial at the start of this week.

Former Jamaica football player Allan Cole, known as ?Skill? because of his soccer abilities, was sentenced to 18 months in prison and fined J$1.015 million ($15,150) after being found guilty of possession of marijuana, dealing in marijuana and attempting to export the drug.

Transformers, a special-effects movie extravaganza based on popular toys, earned $27.5 million during its first full day of release and appears on track to dominate the American box office, according to estimates yesterday by distributor Paramount Pictures. After earning $8.8 million from Monday night screenings across the United States and Canada, the movie pulled in $27.5 million the next day ? a sum billed by Paramount as the biggest Tuesday haul for a movie.
