<B>Nadine’s body to be exhumed</B>
The Dantier family must be relieved. The State Law Office has finally accepted that Nadine’s body be exhumed. In July 2004, the SLO refused to agree the same request because it stated that an exhumation could not be done on any other grounds than for an autopsy. However, in the present case, the aim of the exhumation was to read the letter left by Bruno Tadebois in his girlfriend’s coffin before the funeral. But it is uncertain if the letter will be of any use – after almost four years, chances are that the letter has been damaged.
Safety plan for Air Mauritius</B>
Air Mauritius intends to make use of the McKinsey report whose aim was to make the local airline “even more profitable”. As the company has been going through tough times, the implementation of the recommendations is expected to turn around this situation with in-depth structural changes. The company is thinking of giving up unprofitable services. It will also have to manage situations like that in December where it had to turn down passengers because of lack of hotel accommodation. The staff will also be audited to make them even more efficient.
Who will head the BoM? </B>
The cabinet was expected to give his name last Friday but it decided to keep up the suspense … While Ramesh Basant-Roi retired from his post of governor at the Bank of Mauritius (BoM) at the end of last year, the name of his successor has not been made public yet. However, two candidates are said to be on top of the prime minister’s list: the former minister of Finance, Rundheersingh Bheenick, and the financial specialist, Rajah Ramdaursingh. In any case, the future governor will have a lot on his plate, as he will have to stop the rupee depreciating and inspire bankers both in the country and abroad with trust.
