Immoral grandmother?
A grandmother is suspected of having ?allowed a child to be sexually abused?. She was arrested by members of the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) after her 13 year-old granddaughter was seen with two men. Neighbours had made a statement to the police against the grandmother because they suspected such illegal activities. However, she has denied all accusations so far and stated that she has never been able to control the adolescent since the latter came to live with her when her parents died. Although the police have not objected to her release on bail, she is still detained because she can?t afford the bail. The police mentioned she was arrested on the same grounds in 2001.

No more snacks sold in schools
After sodas, the ministry of Health intends to tackle the problem of snacks and fried food in schools. After setting up a clear programme to ban sodas from school canteens ? making it a reality in a very near future ? the minister of Health, Satish Faugoo, does not intend to stop there. As such drinks and food involve greater risks for health ? particularly in a population at risk concerning diabetes and other heart diseases ? he wants to tackle the problem at the earliest possible age.
