New developments continue to crop up concerning the fire that occurred in St-Pierre in which two young children were burnt to death. After Jaganaden Virahsawmy had confessed that he started the fire himself, he afterwards retracted saying that he had been beaten up by the MCIT to make him confess. Then it was his daughter’s turn to relate her version of the story from her hospital bed. She revealed to her mother that she took a can of what she thought was water to try to put out the beginnings of the fire but in fact it was petrol… Sushila Virahsawmy says she is convinced of the innocence of her husband. “He could never have hurt his kids.” The three survivors of the fire are still in hospital. If Darshinee seems to be recovering well, the two others remain under close observation.
