Saturday morning was a terrible shock for the inhabitants of Rose-Hill. The whole town was shaken by the violent accident that had occurred in the early hours of the morning – 3am – killing five young people and severely injuring two others. Five friends were said to be in a car allegedly driven at full speed on the Rose-Hill main road towards Saxo nightclub. It is presumed that the car bumped into a pedestrian, which led the driver to lose control and crash into a motorcycle before stopping against a pile of stones.

What was supposed to be a spin between friends finally ended in a bloody scene that may prevent the witnesses from resting easy for the next few weeks. Two of the car passengers – Corinne Rose (34) and Ansley Agathina (28) – as well as the 26 year-old pedestrian, and the two men on the motorcycle – policeman Krishna Vencanah (32) and his friend Niven Carombayenin (32) – were all killed on the spot.

Wendy Césarine, who was allegedly driving the car, and Richard Descombes were the sole survivors. They are still in hospital and in no position to give their statements to the police yet. The latter are nevertheless eager to have them to shed some light on this tragic event that has deprived five families of their loved ones.
