■ RACE 1 ? THE SCALDED CAT PLATE

Man?s Man had its head turned sideways and got stuck in its stall when the start was given, resulting in it being slow out and losing many lengths. As a result, Man?s Man was declared a non starter. In view of this, all bets on this horse were ordered to be refunded and the winning bets with bookmakers were paid less 10 cents per rupee, the average price of Man?s Man being 7-1. At the start Blessed Arabian threw its head up and was slow, losing about one length. Sparkling Lad jumped outwards, brushing Star of Houston. Passing the 1300 metres Gandolf started racing fiercely when being settled off the heels of Star of Houston, threw its head up, shifted in slightly, brushing Arabian Prophesy. At an inquiry into an incident, jockey Nagadoo (Cedar Falls) was found guilty of a charge under Rule 161 (c) in that approaching the 1200 metres he carelessly allowed his mount to shift in, resulting in Credit Line on his inside being taken in onto Blessed Arabian with the latter being cramped for room and having to be checked. Jockey Nagadoo was suspended from riding in one race reserved for Mauritian riders. At the 250 metres, Blessed Arabian was taken out off the heels of Credit Line in order to obtain a clear run.

Routine urine specimens were taken for analysis from Masterfax, Man?s Man and Tabasheer prior to the race and from Arabian Prophesy after the race.

■ RACE 2 ? THE ARMED GUARD CUP

At the start Love Bug threw its head up, was slow out, losing about one length. Crimson Gown was slow into stride. Barrister jumped inwards, brushing National Express. Over the final 100 metres Crimson Gown hung in and proved difficult to be properly assisted.

Routine urine specimens were taken for analysis from Barrister and Love Bug prior to the race and from Ashton Manor prior to and after the race.

■ RACE 3 ? THE HOLDALL CUP

The Club?s Veterinary Surgeon reported that Royal Dome was lame and was unfit to race. Consequently, the horse was withdrawn at 8 a.m. on Friday. As a result, all bets on this horse were ordered to be refunded and betting with bookmakers was re-opened. Trainer Ramapatee Gujadhur was told that Royal Dome will need a veterinary certificate of soundness before being allowed to race again. At the start Salute The Star and African Ambassador threw their heads up, unbalancing their respective jockeys Near the 1300 metres Tambour Battant was slightly cramped for room and had to be eased from Misty Gold on his inside holding its position and African Ambassador on his outside, shifting in, when pressured by Salute The Star on the outside. Jockey Daby (Salute The Star) was shown the video of the incident and advised to show more care in future. Over the final 100 metres Century Lad and African Ambassador hung out under pressure with the latter being difficult to be properly assisted. The Club?s Veterinary Surgeon reported that Misty Gold was slightly lame on the off fore leg. In view of this, trainer B. Gujadhur was told that Misty Gold will need a veterinary certificate of soundness before being allowed to race again. The Club?s Veterinary Surgeon reported that Salute The Star had a superficial cut to the off fore cannon. In view of this, trainer H. Maigrot was told that this horse will need a veterinary certificate of fitness before being allowed to race again.

Routine urine specimens were taken for analysis from Ten Hundred prior to the race and from African Ambassador after the race.

■ RACE 4 ? THE YOU YOU CUP

At the start King?s Oak was slow out and President Bill stood flat-footed, both losing about one length. Grand Duke raced fiercely from the 1400 to the 600 metres, proving difficult to control off the heels of Arabian Scent. The Veterinary Surgeon reported that President Bill coughed after the race. A subsequent endoscopic examination of the horse revealed it to have bled. In view of this, trainer B. Gujadhur was told that President Bill has been suspended for one month and will need a veterinary clearance before being allowed to race again.

■ RACE 5 ? THE A.E.P.S. CUP

The Club?s Veterinary Surgeon reported that Jumpin Joshua was suffering from urticaria and was unfit to race. Consequently, the horse was withdrawn at 2.30 p.m. on Friday. As a result, all bets on this horse were ordered to be refunded and betting with bookmakers was re-opened. Trainer B. Gujadhur was advised that Jumpin Joshua will need a veterinary certificate of soundness before being allowed to race again. At the start Rodriques was slow out, losing about one length. Gold Bid jumped outwards, brushing Rodriques. Methodical Man jumped outwards and Hold The Fort jumped inwards, resulting in Chief Warrior being cramped for room and being slightly inconvenienced. From the 400 metres, Methodical Man hung out under pressure and raced off the fence despite jockey Rama?s attempt to straighten it. Over the last 350 metres Coronation Cup and Cable Guy were taken out wide in order to obtain a clear run. Upon entering the final straight, Chief Warrior was taken out off the heels of Halidom in order to obtain a clear run. Jockey Rama reported that Methodical Man hung out throughout and a subsequent veterinary examination of the horse revealed that it was lame on the near fore leg. In view of this, trainer C. Ramdin was told that Methodical Man will need a veterinary certificate of soundness before being allowed to race again.

■ RACE 6 ? THE FRANCE ANTELME CUP

At the start Road Rover was slow out, losing about one length. From the 1500 to the 1200 metres Stormy Front raced fiercely and was difficult to control off the heels of Peruzzi. Approaching the 1300 metres Just Wonder had to be eased over a short distance when Uncle Louis shifted in. Jockey Sooful was shown the video of the incident, issued with a warning and told to exercise more care before shifting ground. Near the 900 metres, Just Wonder shied away from Orace Barfoot on its outside and brushed the running rails. Passing the 300 metres Just Wonder had a tendency to hang out and was taken in off the heels of Orace Barfoot. In the final straight Stormy Front hung in badly and was very difficult to be properly assisted. At an inquiry into an incident, jockey Herholdt (The First Russian) pleaded guilty to a charge under Rule 161 (c) in that approaching the 100 metres he carelessly allowed his mount to shift in, resulting in Peruzzi having to be eased and taken out. Jockey Herholdt was fined Rs 10,000.

■ RACE 7 ? THE FRANTZ MERVEN CUP

The Club?s Veterinary Surgeon reported that Game Lodge was lame on the off fore leg and was unfit to race. Consequently, the horse was withdrawn at 8.30 a.m. today. As a result, all bets on this horse were ordered to be refunded and betting with bookmakers was re-opened. Trainer S. Ramdin was advised that Game Lodge will need a veterinary certificate of soundness before being allowed to race again. At the start Paranui jumped inwards, thereafter had a tendency to hang in badly and approaching the 1900 metres shifted in despite jockey Herholdt?s attempt to straighten it. As a result, Golden Rambo was badly cramped for room, had to be checked and lost its position. Eli?s Romance raced fiercely from the 800 to the 600 metres.

Routine urine specimens were taken for analysis from Paranui and Golden Rambo prior to the race and from Jazz Band after the race.

■ RACE 8 ? THE SHARP PIP PLATE

At the start Distinctly Gold jumped inwards, brushing Well Met. Approaching the 1300 metres Distinctly Gold clipped the heels of Well Met and stumbled badly and shortly after started racing fiercely, had to be taken out off the heels of Green Zappa and continued to race fiercely till the 600 metres. Spinning Honor and Pigeon Post raced wide on the first turn. Distinctly Gold had a tendency to hang in in the final straight and could not be properly assisted. Near the 100 metres Green Zappa had to be taken in off the heels of Well Met in order to obtain a clear run.
